JUPITER – He is a freshman who plays well with his upperclassmen.
He is an emerging wide receiver who has developed a clutch gene.
He is a key player who sealed Jupiter Christian’s second win of the season this past Friday afternoon (Sept. 25).
He is Nolan Hollinger, who has been selected as our Breakthrough Player of Week 3.
The freshman wideout caught six passes for 85 yards and the game-winning score in Jupiter Christian’s 28-21 triumph on the road over Boca Raton Christian.
Eagles head coach Baz Alfred was proud of Hollinger’s effort against the Blazers.
“Around a minute 30 seconds remaining, he was having a good game. So we called the same play which helped set up our first touchdown,” Alfred said. “Boca Christian brought a blitz and left him wide open, which while [quarterback] Juice [Wiener] made a few defenders miss, he was able to find him before the blitz got there.”
Jupiter Christian junior wide receiver and cornerback Brian LaFrance offered his own take on how Hollinger stepped up to the plate.
“Nolan also had a game-saving deflection,” LaFrance said. “I can say that he showed up when we need him the most. He stepped up and made two great plays to put us in the position to win. He’s a playmaker for sure.”
Alfred congratulated Hollinger on his Breakthrough Player of Week 3 honor.
“Honestly I’m happy and excited for him,” Alfred said. “He’s deserving of it and has put the body of work into being the Breakthrough Player of the Week each week to the season.”
