BOCA RATON – It took just one play to become a hero.

It took just one play for Tra’Nell Hollis to be our Breakthrough Player of Week 4.

Let’s go back to memory lane from last week’s 6-3 comeback win by Boca Raton over Fort Pierce Central.

A third-down opportunity early in the fourth quarter turned into an 8-yard touchdown run by Hollis.

The score effectively decided the outcome, and Hollis couldn’t have been any more proud of the win.

“It was a team effort the whole drive,” Hollis said last Thursday night (Sept. 12). “It was time to step up. I want to thank my offensive line for making it possible for me to score.”

Boca Raton head coach Brandon Walker spoke on the score by Hollis.

“Tra’Nell is an all-around great player,” Walker said. “He’s the guy we lean on both sides of the ball. The touchdown drive was 90 percent him. He ran very hard tonight and had some plays on the other side of the ball for us as well.”

Hollis was also instrumental in keeping Fort Pierce Central from taking the lead back late in the fourth. He finished with not only the game’s only score, but he also had five tackles, one pass breakup, and one forced fumble.

It was a true all-encompassing effort for the rising star athlete, who received his first offer from Judson University on Aug. 20.

“It came down to who wanted it the most,” Hollis said. “We stuck together and fought for each other on those last plays.”

Now that Hollis has earned our Breakthrough Player of the Week honors, he has his sights set on something else.

“It feels great to get this award,” Hollis said. “Now it’s time to climb to be MVP.”

Next game for Hollis and Boca Raton: Tomorrow night (Sept. 20) at Treasure Coast, 7 p.m. kickoff

Records now: Boca Raton (2-1), Treasure Coast (2-0)
