WEST PALM BEACH – Experience is the best way to gauge how far one has come.
For Rahmsley Estime, this past season at Berean Christian was an eye-opener for him in more ways than one.
The Bulldogs junior was trusted by head coach Mario Jackson and the coaching staff to make some contributions on offense and defense. In nine games played – not including the kickoff classic – Estime tallied 27 total tackles and eight pass breakups on defense, while adding 20 catches for 293 yards (14.65 yards per catch) and four touchdowns on offense.
In the kickoff classic against Village Academy – a 32-20 road win – Estime had perhaps his best overall game, even though it did not officially count in the standings. He recorded four catches for 77 yards and the go-ahead score late in the fourth quarter.
Estime revealed his biggest moment of this past season.
“I’d say it was winning our first game against Village Academy,” Estime said. “It was a dog fight all game long. Us pulling through with a win was just an amazing way to start the season off.”
Estime helped his improved team make a run to the Sunshine State Athletic Conference semifinals, which resulted in a season-ending road loss to eventual champion Canterbury.
“I loved every second of it (the season),” Estime said. “I had a lot of fun going to war with my boys every game. We had a great season, and the bond that we formed was incredible. There was just nothing like it.”
Right now, the 5-foot-10, 160-pound defensive back/wide receiver has no offers on the table. But he’s hoping that with a productive calendar year in 2020, something will eventually open up for him.
