The University of South Florida Football team has officially lost their QB2 last-night as dual-sport phenom, Bryce Archie, has signed his contract with the Cincinnati Reds, simultaneously losing NCAA eligibility. Archie was selected in the 14th round of the 2025 MLB Draft, and signed a $150,000 deal with the club.

Following the injury of QB Byrum Brown, Archie entered the picture and produced as a serviceable backup. In 12 appearances for the Bulls, Bryce Archie recorded 1,915 passing yards and 11 total touchdowns. Bryce Archie’s solid 2024 campaign helped lead USF to a 41-39 5OT thrilling win over San Jose St in the 2024 Hawaii Bowl.

In the spring, Bryce Archie served as a valuable reliever for Bulls’ Baseball, with a 3-1 record on 15 appearances. Archie would toss a 3.25 ERA alongside 36 punchouts.

Although it might come to a shock to USF fans, the Bulls reloaded quickly, hitting the portal yesterday after the news broke. South Florida picked up 6th year Tennessee Quarterback transfer, Gaston Moore. Moore entered the portal in December and will be reuniting with Head Coach Alex Golesh, who served as his OC back in the Tennessee days. Gaston Moore will now join a heated QB2 battle between Sophomore Marcelis Tate and Freshman Locklan Hewlett.

The Bulls will take the field to start their season at Raymond James Stadium against Boise State Thursday, Aug. 28 with a kick off of 5:30 EST.
