A loaded group of TEN Miami stars head to Indy with a chance to boost their draft stock.
The Miami Hurricanes will have their presence made on the NFL’s biggest stage leading up to the NFL Draft, as ten former Hurricanes earned invitations to the NFL Scouting Combine taking place February 23rd through March 1st in Indianapolis. For Mario Cristobal and his rising program in Coral Gables, it’s another step in the right direction as Miami continues to grow as a team that is consistently developing talent for the next level.
For these players attending, the combine for them will be more than just sprinting and weight-lifting numbers. Instead, it’s a week full of evaluations, media, along with on-field drills that’ll give these guys the opportunity to turn their potential into draft momentum.
Headlining the group of Hurricanes on offense is quarterback Carson Beck, who threw for 3,813 yards, 30 touchdowns and 12 interceptions through his 16 games with Miami and is easily one of the most talked about names in this quarterback class. Wide receiver CJ Daniels announced a few weeks ago that he would be attending and hopes to boost his mid-round projections through speed skills like the 40-yard dash and catching drills.

Three of Miami’s five starting offensive linemen will be heading to Indianapolis as well. Of the three were Francis Mauigoa, Anez Cooper, and Markel Bell, who all offer a tremendous amount of size and versatility up front. Mauigoa is projected to be the first Hurricane taken off the board, recently being projected #3 overall to Arizona by ESPNs Field Yates. Miami’s James Brockermeyer did not receive an invitation, despite being named a First-Team All-American from CBS Sports and Third-Team All-ACC.
On the defensive side, Miami will be sending a deep and extremely athletic group headlined by the star pass-rush duo Rueben Bain Jr. and Akheem Mesidor. The explosive duo between Bain and Mesidor are both currently projected to be first-round picks as well, with Bain looking to add onto his top 10 draft-stock, while Mesidor looks to solidify himself as a mid-to-high first round pick.
Linebacker Wesley Bissainthe will be bringing his experience to Indy as well as looks to build off his standout senior season, while behind him the defensive back duo between Keionte Scott and Jakobe Thomas will be given the opportunity to display their versatility and speed. Scott has a major opportunity to jump his stock all the way into the first round, while Thomas, who is currently viewed as a late day 2 pick, has the chance to prove himself as one of the more underrated players in this class.
