It’s been a wild ride for Miami QB Carson Beck during his lengthy collegiate career. Beck, a sixth year senior spent the first five with the Georgia Bulldogs before taking his talents to Coral Gables this past off-season.
Throughout his short but memorable campaign with the U, Beck has led the Hurricanes to the highest of highs of the game, including a mid season #2 rank on the AP Poll and most recently- a 2025 Cotton Bowl Victory over Ohio State. Following the ‘upset’ over the Buckeyes, I had the opportunity to speak with Carson and reflect on his growths over the past few months.
“Honestly, it’s just my mental. The way that I’m able to handle the ebbs and flows of a football game, the checks and balances.” Beck shared. “Being a leader and leading men. Leading the people around you and have them follow you is something I’ve worked on. It’s something you have to practice.”

All season, when the lights turned bright- Miami’s shined brighter. The Hurricanes are 6-0 against ranked opponents on the year, and have looked like an unstoppable force over their last 6 games.
While Beck has certainly provided excellent veteran leadership for a predominantly young ‘Canes offense, these are still moments he’s newer to.
“I’ve never been on this stage before. Obviously I’ve played at Georgia and played in big games, but I’ve never had the opportunity to be the starting QB in the playoff. I’ve been able to be a part of National Championship teams, but I’ve never had this opportunity. So for me- I’m taking it all in and giving it everything I have.”
With that being said- the swagger of the U is back. All year, Miami’s been aggressive, making big plays left and right and just playing with an unwavering confidence that only they possess.
“I think that people forget sometimes that we were the #2 team in the Country earlier on in the season… You face adversity, it’s never going to be perfect or easy, but I’ve said all season that you can tell how good a team is by how they respond to adversity.”
Last night- Miami put their balanced offensive attack on full display, as the Hurricanes chipped away at Ohio State in the air and on the ground. While Beck provided a 19/26 for 138 yards and 1TD night, the rushing attack stole the show. Miami recorded 153 total yards from scrimmage, with Mark Fletcher earning 90 and supplemented by Marty Brown’s 26 and one score.

I asked Carson about the selflessness as a quarterback being able to watch a dynamic ground game.
“It makes my job so much easier- being able to turn your back to the defense and get positive yards or big gains. There was a lot of times tonight where we had some shots queued up, but they’d be in Cover 2 or something we didn’t like the shot against and I’m checking run. We’ve been able to run it efficiently all year and it was awesome to watch.”
As anyone that’s ever played football knows- the best play in your playbook is victory formation, especially on a stage like this. I asked Carson to relive what was going through his mind as the offense trotted out to just in front of mid field one final time.
“It’s an unbelievable feeling. The emotions were just rolling, like you said- victory formation is the best play in football, and we’ve gotten to run it the last two games. It felt damn good to be able to pull out that win.”
It’s the time to be alive if you’re a Miami Hurricane. Next week, Carson Beck and Miami will travel to Phoenix, AZ to face the winner of Georgia and Ole Miss in the 2026 Fiesta Bowl.
