CORAL GABLES – In what will be his fifth and final season at Miami, Zach McCloud is looking to go out with a bang.
The redshirt senior-to-be linebacker has made a positive impact on the Hurricanes football program since his arrival in 2016. In four seasons, the impact playmaker has tallied 122 tackles (67 solo, 55 assists), 2.5 sacks, 1 pass breakup, and 1 forced fumble.
In addition to his meaningful on-field production, McCloud has been a team leader in more ways than one. Coaches and teammates alike have lauded his commitment to community service, as well as his way of building and maintaining a level of trust between himself and others around him.
All of these factors have played a role in the 6-foot-2, 235-pound linebacker being selected as an All-ACC Third Team preseason pick at his position by Athlon Sports. He is the only ACC player from Palm Beach County who has earned this distinction in 2020.
A lot is riding on McCloud having his best season this year. If the Santaluces alum combines his high level of character, leadership, and athleticism with his play, then we can expect him to be an NFL Draft pick in April 2021.
