PAHOKEE – It was a momentous occasion last night (Aug. 4) for Jenorris Wilcher.

The Pahokee 2024 athlete had the following verbal college scholarship offers available to him:

•FIU

•Liberty

•Middle Tennessee State

.•UNC at Pembroke

•Western Carolina

•Western Kentucky

Of these six total offers, one of them provided Wilcher with an official college scholarship offer. He posted this on his Twitter account earlier this week (Aug. 2).

It makes sense that Wilcher ultimately went with Western Carolina as his college choice for the next several years ahead.

Wilcher touched on what led him to his final college recruiting decision.

“I have been interested in every school that’s interested in me and I’m thankful for Western Carolina being my first official offer,” the 5-foot-10, 180-pound athlete said. “Talking with the coaches there, I really think they told me what I need to hear and not what I wanted to hear. Also I like what their program has to offer for me in the future.”

Wilcher’s junior season at Pahokee played a large role into how the six offers and eventual Western Carolina verbal commitment turned out. Let us take a look at his statistics from last season, which you can see right below.

•952 yards

•11 touchdowns

•42 tackles

•7 pass breakups

•3 interceptions

Wilcher’s best individual game was in Week 5 against Palm Beach Gardens. Here are his statistics from that one.

•100 yards

•2 touchdowns; 1 pick-six

•5 pass breakups

•10 tackles

Wilcher on his performance against Palm Beach Gardens:

“It showed that I came out ready to play,” Wilcher said. “I was locked in and fired up.”

Wilcher on his junior season at Pahokee:

“My junior season was fun and exciting with a great team,” Wilcher said. “I was a leader on that team during my junior year. I been a leader all my life. What I like about the season was that I got to play with my brothers and family and always how we fought for each other.”

Wilcher did not stop there.

“What could have gone differently I would say, is my shoulder,” Wilcher continued. “I been playing on an injured shoulder after our homecoming game and throughout the playoffs. I think that changed my game a little bit. I wasn’t at 100 percent, but I love the game of football. An injury won’t stop me now. My shoulder better and my senior season finna be crazy.”

Wilcher shared his senior season goals, which are the following:

•2,000 rushing yards

•10 interceptions

•100 tackles

The Pahokee standout has one more.

“The team goal is to be state bound,” Wilcher said. “We been coming up short since I been here.”

One person who will play a role in Pahokee’s Class 1R state championship aspirations is new head coach Matthew Sparrowhawk, who took over the role this past spring. In short, Wilcher loved the Pahokee High School administration’s decision to make this happen.

“Aww man Coach Hawk is a great coach,” Wilcher said. “I mean he been with Pahokee football for a while. The players respect Coach Hawk and learn a lot of things from him. It’s not like he’s an outsider coach that we don’t know. He been here (Pahokee football).”

Wilcher wants to add something very important to him.

“We have the best coaching staff in Palm Beach County, hands down,” Wilcher said. “We have the best trainer in Clint Everett. Coach Clint is a great coach and trainer. He loves us and want us to be great and better than what he was. He wants you to make it. He is a pushing coach, meaning he’s going to make you work. No missing reps or saying you tired.”

EDITOR’S NOTE: We at New Era Prep are excited about what has come and what will come for our No. 26-ranked overall player in Palm Beach County. We expect great things from Wilcher and the Pahokee Blue Devils this season.
