Chaminade-Madonna delivered one of its most complete performances of the season Thursday night, defeating Somerset Academy Key 71-36 in the FHSAA Class 2A District 13 semifinal round.
The Lions controlled the game from start to finish, using defensive pressure, rebounding dominance, and scoring from multiple players to defeat Somerset Academy Key and advance to the district championship game.
Outstanding performance by junior Lunden Knights helped lead the way. He has been a driving force behind Chaminade-Madonna’s success this season. The standout guard continues to step up in big moments, providing consistent scoring, strong defensive pressure, and leadership on the court. Knights has proven to be one of the Lions’ most reliable offensive weapons.
One of the biggest differences in the game came from physical play and second-chance opportunities. Chaminade-Madonna’s rebounding and defensive activity forced turnovers and limited Somerset Academy Key to just 36 total points – far below their typical offensive output.
Chaminade-Madonna has been strong in rebounds, assists, and steals all season. This helps them control the pace of the game and maintain possession more often.
The game was played at Chaminade-Madonna, and the atmosphere was electric. The student section was loud and energetic, almost acting like sports commentators. This gave the Lions extra support during key moments of the game.

With the semifinal victory secured, Chaminade-Madonna now advances to the 2A District 13 Championship, where they will face No. 1 seed Westminster Academy. The matchup sets up a high-stakes battle between the district’s top seed and a Lions team coming off a dominant playoff performance.
