FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – After a dominating win over Miami Northwestern in the Kickoff Classic Week, defending state champions Chaminade Madonna look to make their mark back on the national stage by opening up against the top team in the state of Maryland, St. Frances Academy.

Early in the 1st quarter, the Maryland powerhouse struck first getting an easy reception over the Chaminade secondary, however they missed the extra point giving them only a 6-0 lead over the Lions. For most of the 2nd quarter St. Frances held a lead over Chaminade until defensive tackle Donta Simpson Jr tipped a pick-six and took it 20 yards to the endzone for a touchdown.

Chaminade’s lead however, would not last long as St. Frances would march down the field and nab a quick passing touchdown followed by a two point conversion to bring their lead back up to seven.

The Lions would come out of halftime with all the momentum despite trailing. Chaminade would strike first in the 2nd half, Running Back Davion Gause found the endzone for a 45 yard rushing touchdown. However, Chaminade’s fun didn’t stop there. Starting in the 4th quarter Cedrick Bailey found Ohio State commit Jeremiah Smith in the endzone to give Chaminade back the lead. Following Smith a couple minutes later, Gause found the endzone for a second time, this time from 54 yards out. It became incredibly clear that Chaminade had made their mark on the national scale. What we thought would be the final score, Chaminade struck again off another pick six from Bryant Junius, giving the Lions a dominant 35-14 win.
