BELLE GLADE – Sunday, June 12 will be a day to remember for Javorian Wimberly.
The Palm Beach Central (Wellington) wide receiver from the Class of 2023 made his final decision to play college football at Central Michigan. He announced the end of his recruiting process on Twitter at 12 p.m. yesterday.
Wimberly (No. 1-ranked wide receiver; No. 4 overall player in Palm Beach County) shared his reason for why he went with the MAC school.
“I had that relationship with the coaches and I honestly feel like they’re going to use me the way I’m supposed to be used,” the 6-foot, 182-pound wide receiver said. “I love the strength and conditioning coach. He keeps it real for real. And they [the Central Michigan coaches and team] are actually like a family.”
Wimberly is one of many Class of 2023 players from the Muck area (Belle Glade/Pahokee/South Bay). He is the first to end his recruiting process.
“To be honest, I didn’t really think of it that way,” Wimberly said. “But I know now that it’s going to start something for sure. I’m just doing my thing, putting on for my city, and bringing the Muck to what it used to be. I want to show that the Muck still has the talent from back then.”
Wimberly has steadily improved his stock at Palm Beach Central over the past three seasons. His best campaign yet was last year, when he had 49 catches for 987 yards and 10 receiving touchdowns (12 total).
One person Wimberly can credit for his success is Palm Beach Central fellow classmate and quarterback Ahmad Haston, who has recently pledged his verbal commitment to UMass.
“We’ve been doing this since 8th grade, so it’s nothing new with us,” Wimberly said. “Whether it’s on or off the field, we are with each other whenever we can be with each other because now it’s a business and we’re going our own ways to be great. But we’re going to meet each other at the top.”
For Wimberly’s upcoming senior season, he wants to come out on top individually. He also wants to see Palm Beach Central end the 2022 season with a state title.
We will see what happens over the next several months ahead.
But for now, we can celebrate Wimberly’s big moment as he relishes his verbal pledge to Central Michigan.
