LANTANA – It is safe to say that Will Prichard had an amazing senior season.

In 11 games played, the Lou Groza Player of the Year nominee and now-Arkansans State early enrollee finished with the following statistics:

•184-for-288; 64 percent completion rate

•2,850 yards

•40 touchdowns

•2 interceptions

Prichard has won the following honors after his senior season ended:

 • Named “First Team All-County” by both the Palm Beach Post and Sun Sentinel

Prichard had three games that really stood out. Those games were:

•Week 2 vs. Boynton Beach: 18-of-29 passing, 261 yards, 3 total TD’s (2 pass, 1 rush)

•Week 3 at Olympic Heights: 24-of-34 passing, 415 yards, 5 TD passes

•FHSAA Class 4M-Region 3 Quarterfinal round vs. Stoneman Douglas: 12-of-25 passing, 302 yards, 5 total TD’s (4 pass, 1 rush)

When Will announced he was going to transfer from King’s Academy to Santaluces, it took Palm Beach County by storm. Many were asking, “Why would arguably the best quarterback in the county go to Santaluces?”

The answer was Hector Clavijo.

A few weeks prior to Will announcing his intent to transfer, Santaluces hired Clavijo to be their new head coach. Clavijo was the head coach of Champagnat Catholic in Hialeah for six seasons before being hired by Santaluces.

After gaining a dynamic head coach/quarterback duo, the “New Santa” was born. Offensive weapons like WR/TE Chase Hanning, WR/DB Amir Gibson and ATH Curtis Douglas bought into the new culture and transferred to Santa as well.

When asked about Clavijo and the impact he left on him, Will said: “He has changed the culture at Santaluces and it’s only going to get better. Having him as my coach changed my life for the better, so I am always going to support him no matter what.”

When I asked Clavijo about the best parts of coaching Will, he said: “Coaching a kid like that really sets the standard high. He was amazing on and off the field. The way he was always on time and constantly on point with his recruiting and his offense. There aren’t many guys with that level of IQ at this level, so it certainly was a blessing.”

I have known Will personally for a long time now. Will and I used to play WCFL football against each other, and we attended The King’s Academy together.

Will is one of the best kids you will ever meet. His football IQ is through the roof, and he is always one of the smartest players on the field.

He is one of the most dedicated and hard-working people I know.

Will has such a bright future ahead of him, and I can’t wait to watch him play at the collegiate level.

Arkansas State got a great one.
