WELLINGTON – Scottie Littles is currently leading perhaps the most talented team in Palm Beach County.

Don’t look now, but by the end of this season, it would not be inconceivable that the Palm Beach Central head coach is recognized as one of the best at his position.

All one needs to do is look at what happened in Week 2.

Third-ranked Palm Beach Central (2-0) dominated now-eighth ranked Dwyer (1-1) from start to finish in what was a 44-14 blowout win at home on Sept. 3. The Broncos got it done on offense, defense, and special teams in a way that truly brought the team together.

For this reason, Littles was selected as our Coach of Week 2.

“The kids were playing hard and having fun,” Littles said.

One player who stood out last week was senior running back Markel King, who is a Park Vista transfer. His electrifying 49-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter iced Palm Beach Central’s 30-point win.

“Markel is a good player,” Littles said. “On top of that, he’s a good kid. He’s come into our program, he’s worked hard. He earned his way into it. The kids accept him. The kids love him. He’s becoming somewhat of a leader…At the end of the day, we have a bunch of guys that can make plays. We have a lot of people that can do a lot of things for us.”

One of the players is sophomore kicker Fabian Salazar, who connected on a field goal attempt and made several extra points in Palm Beach Central’s easy win over Dwyer.

“He’s a young kid,” Little said. “He’s a 10th grader with a big leg. At the end of the day, he’s doing a great job. We’re proud of him. He wasn’t even supposed to be out there, but he was and he performed well.”

Littles spoke on his team’s collective heart and desire to will their way to a huge win in Week 2.

“I’m proud of the kids,” Littles said. “Our kids are just learning how to continue to get better. I tell people all the time that last year, these kids only played four games. It’s only about their seventh varsity start, and every rep they’re getting better and better. The sky’s the limit for us…A ton to be super proud of.”
