Coach of Week 3: Scottie Littles

WELLINGTON – For the second week in a row, Scottie Littles has won Coach of the Week honors.

The Palm Beach Central head coach has his team firing on all cylinders right now. They have a 3-0 record and are currently ranked as our No. 2 overall team in Palm Beach County.

With a 48-21 blowout win over Boca Raton on the road last Thursday night (Sept. 9), Palm Beach Central is going to be a team to watch all season long.

“I think our kids played well off a short week,” Littles said. “We didn’t know what the circumstances would be with Boca, but they said they were ready to play. We came out here and played a tough Boca team. They’re well-coached. They’re a good team. But our kids showed up. They played hard and they were disciplined…Our kids fought adversity and found a way to bond together. They found a way to win.”

What may have stood out more than anything else for Palm Beach Central is the small level of penalties committed. There weren’t many flags thrown on the road team in this one.

“We’ve been stressing that through our discipline,” Littles said. “I tell the kids all the time that it’s Central vs. Central. In Week 0, which was the kickoff classic, we had over 215 yards in penalties. We can’t win football games like that. So I just credit the kids and the coaches for finally finding a way to fix it and go 1-0 each week.”

Littles is doing his very best to keep it all in proper perspective, even as his team has outscored its opponents by a score of 143-47.

“We know what our team goals are,” Little said. “I’ll play that close to the chest. But our goal wasn’t to be 3-0. Our goal wasn’t to score 40 points each game. We have bigger goals than that. At the end of the day, we’re going to continue fighting for each other and continue to love each other.”

The next game for Palm Beach Central is tomorrow night (Sept. 17; 6:30 p.m. kickoff) at Royal Palm Beach (0-2).

“After what we went through last year with the COVID deal, we’re just trying to make up for lost time,” Littles said. “We’re trying to play as many games as we can, put these kids in position to succeed, and go 1-0 each week.”
