WELLINGTON – Three-time Coach of the Week winner Scottie Littles is in a class by himself so far this season.
The Palm Beach Central head coach has led his team to four straight blowout wins in as many weeks, as it has outscored its opponents by a score of 209-54.
The Week 4 effort against Royal Palm Beach may go down as the best effort yet from Littles, as Palm Beach Central took a 63-0 lead at halftime and eventually pulled out a 70-0 road win on Sept. 17.
Littles was able to get a truly masterful performance from MVP of Week 4 and junior quarterback Ahmad Haston, who had an astounding seven touchdown passes in the first half.
Two of Haston’s seven touchdown passes were to senior wide receiver Cody Wasielewski, who had a homecoming of sorts as he returned to the place of his former team at Royal Palm Beach in style.
Littles has been able to get his entire team to focus on limiting penalties and turnovers over this masterful four-game stretch. This has contributed greatly to Palm Beach Central’s 4-0 start.
As a result of these things and more, Palm Beach Central is now 1-0 in District 7-8A play and has earned the No. 10 overall RPI ranking from the FHSAA.
“Coach Littles has helped to keep us level as we have been gaining all this success and media attention lately,” Haston said. “He is helping us to understand to take it one game at a time. He puts it as a 1-0 mindset.”
NOTES: Palm Beach Central will be enjoying its bye in Week 5 as the No. 1 overall team in Palm Beach County. It has earned this honor from New Era Prep, the Palm Beach Post, the Sun-Sentinel, and ESPN West Palm (No. 1 in Palm Beach County; No. 4 overall).
Palm Beach Central’s next five games are against Jupiter (2-2; 1-0 in 7-8A) in Week 6, Park Vista (3-0; No. 5 overall team in Palm Beach County) in Week 7, Palm Beach Lakes (0-4; 0-1 in 7-8A) in Week 8, Palm Beach Gardens (2-2; 1-0 in 7-8A; No. 6 overall team in Palm Beach County) in Week 9, and Wellington (1-2; 0-1 in 7-8A) for the Wellington Cup in Week 10.
The District 7-8A winner will earn an automatic bid in the Class 8A playoffs this November. The district title winner will be revealed by no later than Week 10 of the regular season.
