BOCA RATON – David Angell got his team fully prepared for last week’s road game at Dwyer.
The Bobcats (5-1) were completely focused on their mission from start to finish. They only needed a defensive touchdown from senior linebacker Valentino Diaz (MVP of Week 7) and a 45-yard field goal from senior athlete Artur Chagaev (Breakthrough Player of Week 7) to seal their 9-8 road win over the Panthers (4-2).
Diaz spoke on how Angell made sure everyone on the team was fully in sync with each other.
“He prepares us a lot by watching film every day and walkthroughs in the practices,” Diaz said. “He just brings energy to the team that fires us up to have a good week of practice and an awesome game on Friday nights.”
Chagaev concurred.
“Coach Angell is a very smart coach,” Chagaev said. “He always pushes us to be better football players and better human beings in general.”
Defensive coordinator Jared De Freitas spoke on how Angell displayed a masterful coaching performance that earned him Coach of Week 7 honors.
“Coach Angell is a man of detail and preparation,” De Freitas said. “Leading in to the last three games, we as a team watch film every day after practice and he makes sure we are well prepared. As a staff we stayed up until 12:30 a.m. Friday coming up with adjustments and potential scenarios. Dwyer was the No. 2 school in the county, and we needed to be ready for everything. We are doing the same thing this week for Monarch as well.”
NOTE: Boca Raton’s next game is in Week 8 against Monarch at Coconut Creek High School. It is set for Friday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m.
