The West Boca Bulls rolled past the Spanish River Sharks, 37-0, turning an early defensive battle into a dominant crosstown rivalry victory.

The two sides were locked in a stalemate for much of the first quarter before Max Reid sacked the Spanish River quarterback in the end zone for a safety, giving West Boca a 2-0 lead after one.

Then came the turning point.

West Boca exploded for 21 unanswered points in the second quarter. Trey Moran connected with Erik Da Costa for a touchdown to get the offense rolling. Terriel “Wally” Harmon followed with a short touchdown run, before Quinton Miller Jr. punched in another short touchdown run, turning a 2-0 game into a commanding 23-0 halftime lead.

West Boca’s defense made life difficult for Spanish River all night. The Bulls forced three interceptions, with Reid, defensive end Javion Harrington and cornerback Larry Morgan each coming away with a pick. Combined with Reid’s first-quarter safety, the Bulls consistently created pressure and took away opportunities for the Sharks to establish any offensive rhythm.

The victory adds another impressive win to West Boca’s resume, coming on the heels of the Bulls’ win over American Heritage (Fort Lauderdale). West Boca continues to find ways to win, and this group appears to be gelling and gaining confidence on both sides of the ball.

For Spanish River, it’s back to the drawing board. The Sharks have shown they can be a solid football team, but against top-tier competition, they have fallen short. They’ll look to regroup, make adjustments and find their way back into the win column.

The road doesn’t get any easier for West Boca. The Bulls will take on Cardinal Newman next, another top-10 team in Palm Beach County, with West Boca looking to start the season 3-0.

It will be another key matchup and another gut check for the Bulls, giving West Boca another opportunity to show it can consistently win against some of Palm Beach County’s best.
