Morgantown, WV.- Breaking News: West Virginia secures a verbal commitment from 4-Star QB Jyron Hughley (’26).

Hughley, a 6 foot 2 dual threat QB from Cardinal Newman is rated as a top 400 prospect in the 2026 recruiting class, and the #55 player in the state of Florida. Jyron pledged his commitment to the Mountaineers earlier this morning (April 5) via social media.

Jyron chose the Mountaineers over high major programs like Miami, Penn State, Boston College and UCF. When asked about what set WVU apart from his other 20+ offers, Jyron said:

“I’m truly blessed to be able to announce my commitment to West Virginia! I love being up in Morgantown, and I’m excited to be back.” Hughley eagerly stated. “I chose WVU because of the relationships I’ve built with the staff. I love how Coach Rod coaches, the offense is a system that I’m confident I can succeed in. I feel like I thrive in a high tempo, RPO driven offense. I want all of the WVU fans to know that I’m hungry and ready to work. I was made for this moment.”

Jyron Hughley is one of the top dual threat QBs in the nation, possessing an incredible arm talent alongside natural athleticism that is lethal on the ground game. Hughley was NOT lying when he said he thrives in an RPO driven scheme, as he dominated in 2024, recording 1,353 passing yards, alongside 835 yards on the ground with 15 total scores.

Jyron Hughley’s ties to West Virginia go way deeper than a “full court press” recruiting process. Hughley’s uncles: Ja’Juan Seider and Ja’HShaun Seider were former Mountaineers. When asked about how his family ties played into his decision, Jyron shared:

“Morgantown has always been a home for me it always held a special place and my heart since I was a baby.” I have a lot of history there. I have three uncles that played there Ja’Juan, Travis and Jashaun. I also have family that still lives there till this day.”

Jyron becomes West Virginia’s 4th commitment in the 2026 recruiting class, joining fellow local prospect, American Heritage (Plantation)’s 3-Star WR Jeffar Jean-Noel, alongside 3-Star RB Jett Walker and 3-Star TE Sam Hamilton. The addition of Hughley to the Mountaineers ’26 class elevates them to the #44 class in the country, per the 24/7 Sports composite.
