DB Gurvan Hall enjoys status as Under Armour All-American

ORLANDO – As Palm Beach County’s only Under Armour All-American, Gurvan Hall is here to make the most of every opportunity throughout the week.

In a series of practices at the World Wide of
Sports Complex, the Palm Beach Gardens 2018 early graduate and soon-to-be Miami defensive back has held his own in more ways than one. Using his combination of speed, athleticism, football smarts, and instincts, Hall has been working to lock down opposing players in action.

He doesn’t mind playing in either zone or man coverage. He anticipates the ball when a quarterback throws the ball near his direction, and if it doesn’t happen, he’ll survey the field to look for ways to make an impactful play.

These are some of the reason why ESPN has the 5-11, 173-pound four-star safety as the nation’s No. 11-ranked player at his position and No. 136 overall. Hall, who pledged his verbal commitment to Miami on March 27, 2017 and signed with the ACC school on Dec. 20, 2017, has an overall player score of 83.

“It (this week) has been going great for me,” Hall said to New Era Prep special Jeffrey Wimbrow in an exclusive interview on Monday, Jan. 1. “The last few days have been very competitive. I’ve played with some of the best out here in other competitions like The Opening and with the Florida Fire (7-on-7 offseason program based in South Florida). The coaches have taught me a lot of things I didn’t know. It’s just a great experience.”

In a standout interview moment, Hall wasn’t afraid to reveal that he has quickly bonded with fellow Under Armour All-American Quinadrius Monday, an Auburn commit and safety out of Carver High School in Atlanta.

“I met my dog Smoke,” Hall said of Monday. “My dog Smoke!”

Hall, the No. 1-ranked safety in Florida by a host of national recruiting outlets, looks to play a key role in the 2018 Under Armour All-Star Game. This nationally televised showcase has a kickoff time set for tonight (Dec. 4) at 6 p.m. on ESPN.
