BOCA RATON – It has been quite clear for Bill Young which college football program wants him the most.

The St. Andrew’s 2023 running back made sure to let the masses know that his recruiting process ended today (June 27) by pledging his verbal commitment to Army. He chose this prestigious institution over the likes of Central Michigan, Navy, Air Force, Fordham, and UMass.

Young (5-foot-10, 185 pounds) shared his reason for going with Army.

“It was definitely the relationships I am building with the coaching staff there,” Young said. “It’s also the opportunities I will have there after graduation.”

Young went on to speak of those future opportunities and more.

“Sky is the limit after graduation,” Young said. “You are put in the position to network with many CEO’s and company owners that are all West Point Alums.”

As for his time on the field for Army over the next few years ago, Young shared how that will go down.

“I will be playing A back, which is slot back in their Wing-T triple option formation,” Young said.

Prior to the Army commitment, Young received a verbal offer from the FBS institution on March 15. It turned into an official offer just nine days later on March 24.

Young was invited to attend the Army spring football game that took place on April 22. From there, he got to enjoy seeing Michie Stadium and all of Army’s football facilities.

And from there, Army head coach Jeff Monken and cornerbacks coach Daryl Dixon kept staying in touch with Young. A home visit from Dixon even took place on May 17.

With all that said, Young’s high school football head coach spoke on his big moment and everything that led up to it.

“Bill is one of the top backs and overall players in the area,” St. Andrew’s head coach Jimmy Robertson said. “He helped build this team and had success with the guys around him. Not many kids in the area spend all four years at the same high school. He has produced each year. I’m very proud of him.”
