LAKE WORTH- Park Vista linebacker Brock Mitchell (’25) is the New Era Prep Defensive Player of Week 7!

Mitchell was voted as Defensive Player of the Week by 48 percent of our viewers. For those that do not know, you can find all of our weekly superlatives on the New Era Prep Twitter account!

When asked about being voted as Defensive Player of the Week, Brock said:

“It’s truly a blessing to be nominated and being able to win.” Mitchell said. “I’m truly thankful to all of the people who voted for me this week, you are appreciated. However, I couldn’t do it without my coaches and teammates. The job is not done, we still have a lot more football left to play.”

Brock Mitchell is one of Palm Beach County’s most underrated players. Despite being 5’10”, Mitchell carries a larger than life presence on the field. He’s a vocal leader, commanding the Cobra defense pre snap. When the play is live, Mitchell is flying across the field making plays, and isn’t afraid to put his shoulder down and hit someone. He reads the offensive scheme, anticipates the play, and then makes his own big play.

For the past few weeks, Brock Mitchell has been playing lights out football. In week 6 against Boca Raton, Mitchell carried the Cobra front-seven, recording:

6 Solo Tackles

3 Tackle Assists

1 Pass Breakup

1 Forced Fumble

1 Fumble Recovery (63 yard return for TD)

Mitchell’s solid stat line awarded him the Week 6 Lineman of the Week from New Era Prep. Brock Mitchell’s defensive dominance didn’t end there, as he followed up with a big performance against Olympic Heights in week 7. During the Olympic Heights game, Mitchell recorded:

13 Solo Tackles

7 Tackles for Loss

1 Sack

When asked about his strong performances over the past two games, Brock said:

“I go into every game determined to make big plays, that’s just the type of player I am.” Mitchell said. “I like being inside the action, making plays, hitting people and doing whatever I can to lead my team. I’m happy with the way my junior season is going so far. We have a long season ahead of us, and I’m very confident the Park Vista defense will be ready.”

Brock said to me that his favorite part of his season is playing under his father, Coach Tony Mitchell, and the relationship they’ve built through football.

“It’s an absolute blessing to be able to play with for my father. He holds every player on this team to a high standard, and then me to a higher one. Our favorite past time is watching film and breaking it down to visualize how to become better.” Mitchell said. “He pushes my teammates and I to want to be better, push ourselves harder, and motivates us to go out there to play the game we love. He’s hard on us, but he loves it when we do good and he preaches to us to go out there and have fun.”
