DELRAY BEACH – Anthony Landes went back to where he started.

The senior-to-be offensive lineman returned to Atlantic (Delray Beach) after a one-year stint at American Heritage (Delray Beach). He made the announcement on his Twitter account on June 11.

“I want the ability to compete for a state championship, and I always loved the environment at Atlantic,” the 6-foot-3, 275-pound offensive lineman said. “I made the switch to Heritage organically in order to be with my brother for his senior year.”

Anthony is speaking about Richard Landes, who is now an American Heritage alum and will be heading to North Central College later this summer.

“Now he is going back there (Atlantic) to fulfill his dreams,” the defensive end said of his younger brother. “He started at the spring game of his junior year at Atlantic, and started at Heritage last year. With him going back, he will be one of the best linemen in the county this year.”

As a junior, Anthony finished with 16 pancakes and no sacks allowed. His two best games came against Benjamin in Week 6 (6 pancakes) and Gulliver Prep in Week 11 (5 pancakes).

Anthony reflected on this past season at American Heritage.

“It was overall a great experience,” said Landes, who is currently gaining interest from colleges such as South Alabama and Hartwick. “I started the season off with an injury. But as I got healthy, I got more playing time and started the last three games of our season, which I performed pretty good in.”

Anthony spoke briefly on playing with Richard at American Heritage.

PLEASE NOTE: The Landes brothers were teammates at Atlantic during the 2018 season, when Anthony was a sophomore and Richard was a junior.

“It was amazing,” Anthony said. “I knew that there was only so much time left with him before college came. It was just an experience I will never forget.”

New American Heritage head coach Brian Sheridan was happy to have had a hand in coaching Anthony this past year.

“He left our program at the end of the semester,” Sheridan said. “Atlantic seems like the natural fit for him. He is a great kid and we wish him well in the future.”
