PORT ST. LUCIE – The fourth quarter decided this year’s District 12-4S title between Treasure Coast and Vero Beach.

Down 10-9 to start the final frame, the Titans were driving down the field in Fighting Indians Territory. They started at the opposition’s 25-yard line.

In a few plays, Treasure Coast (7-2; 4-0 in District 12-4S) used its vaunted running game and powerful offensive line to mow down Vero Beach’s defense en route to a spirited 3-yard touchdown run from senior running back George Roberts.

With the rushing score, the Titans took a 15-10 lead over the Fighting Indians with 10:41 left in the game.

Though their offense failed on a two-point conversion attempt, the Titans defense did a masterful job of limiting both the Fighting Indians running and passing games with all players having a nose to the ball on almost every play.

Vero Beach was not in a great position to score at any point in the deciding quarter. That was because of the conditioning level and attention to detail on display for Treasure Coast.

We will show you one particular play in a moment.

With that said, Treasure Coast mixed it up in both the run and pass on one offensive series later in the fourth.

Driving down the field, junior athlete Ahmar Atwell found a wide open Cameron Harris in the middle of the field for a huge gain that put their team deep in Vero Beach territory.

Suffice to say, it took only two plays from there for Treasure Coast to ice this one.

The Titans got a 14-yard burst run from senior running back Demari Scott, who brought it home to the end zone with 4:21 left.

With an extra point by senior kicker Manuel German, Treasure Coast extended the lead to 22-10 over Vero Beach (7-2; 3-1 in District 12-4S).

The true game-ender happened on the very next offensive series for Vero Beach. It occurred at the 3:46 mark.

Watch how Titans senior defensive tackle Jahari Grant caused a landmark interception grab by fellow senior and linebacker Nikko Lopez, who effectively sealed the district title for the home team.

Treasure Coast’s final play of the regular season came on a ferocious Grant sack that fully encapsulated the changing of the guard at the top.
