PALM BEACH GARDENS – Ishmael Goulbourne is ready to make his mark as a verbal commit to Syracuse.
After a productive spring circuit, the No. 11 player in Palm Beach County (NEP 100; Class of 2019) has found a home. He saw Syracuse as the best fit, choosing the New York State-based school over the likes of UAB, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Western Kentucky, Georgia State, and Western Michigan.
“I chose Syracuse because it’s a different environment for me,” Goulbourne said of his college decision. “I never lived outside of Florida, so I look at it as a new experience and beginning.”
Picking the right school can be a huge task for any student-athlete. However, the process of choosing a school has been a rewarding one for the rising senior.
“It’s a big relief committing to Syracuse,” Goulbourne said. “I feel like now I can focus more on the season and finishing my senior year off strong.”
Goulbourne would speak on the driving force that helped him in making his choice.
“My parents and Coach [Jack] Daniels influenced me on my decision,” Goulbourne said.
NOTE: All verbal commitments are non-binding, which means a college recruit can de-commit at any time
between now and National Signing Day on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019.
