PALM BEACH GARDENS – A historic moment occurred earlier this evening (Oct. 18) for Tyler Aronson and Chauncey Bowens.

After playing only three high school football games as freshman, the dynamic duo from Benjamin received their first offers from FAU. It is the first time in recent memory here in Palm Beach County – maybe even the first time ever – that two high school freshmen earned their first Division 1 offers on the same day as teammates.

Aronson, who is probably Palm Beach County’s most heralded freshman in more than 10 years, got his FAU offer at exactly 5 p.m. He posted his announcement on Twitter.

“It’s a huge honor,” said Aronson, who has thrown for a combined 444 yards and five touchdowns in Benjamin’s past two games against Archbishop McCarthy and Gulliver Prep. “I’ve worked hard for this. But it’s time to grind even harder.”

As for Bowens, he received his FAU offer at 6:21 p.m. The 5-foot-11, 208-pound running back posted his announcement on Twitter as well.

.

“It’s great getting an offer with Tyler because we know the work that we’ve put in,” said Bowens, who has rushed for 347 yards (115.67 yards per game) and four touchdowns in his first three high school football games played. “We’ve been like a dynamic duo for these last few years, so it’s definitely amazing to get my first offer with him.”

Benjamin sophomore defensive back/wide receiver Darrell Sweeting, who has also had a strong season after three games played with three touchdown catches from Aronson, spoke fondly on the freshman duo’s momentous occasion.

“They are the two best freshman I have ever seen hands down,” Sweeting said. “I’m proud of them. They have many more to come. Trussss!”
