BOCA RATON – To kick off the first round of the FHSAA playoffs in Palm Beach County, the St. Andrew’s Scots took on the Calvary Christian Academy Eagles.

After a slow start for both teams, Calvary Christian junior running back Yohan-li Louis scored for the first points of the game, giving Calvary Christian the lead at 7-0.

Senior running back Jackson Parke had a good kick return to put Saint Andrews in good field position. But later in that same drive, he had a big touchdown run taken off the board.

Although the Scots were driving down the field, a big fourth-down stop gave the Eagles the ball back near the 50-yard line.

Calvary Christian had good field position, but was not able to capitalize at all, as St. Andrew’s forced a three-and-out.

An amazing punt gave St. Andrew’s the ball back at around the 2-yard line. But a few plays later, the Scots threw an interception.

On third down, the Eagles popped a solid run to get into the red zone. And then a few plays later, Louis punched it in for the score once again to help put his team up 14-0.

With about four minutes to play in the first half, the Scots drove down the field. But penalties stalled the drive, as they were forced to kick a field goal that would put them on the board. 

The Scots went into the half with a 14-3 deficit to the Eagles.

To start the second half, after just one play the Scots threw another interception.

The Scots defense was able to hold the Eagles to just a field goal, making the score 17-3 on a short field.

After the score, the Scots got great field positioning after a splendid return by sophomore quarterback Cayden Hofbauer.

After a nice drive, Hofbauer came in and threw a dot to receiver Teddy Hoffman, making the score 17-10.

On the next possession for the Eagles, they threw an interception of their own, giving the Scots the ball inside the 40-yard line.

The Eagles would go on and hold them to a field goal. It kept them up by a score of 17-13.

On the ensuing possession, Calvary Christian was able to work the field on a long drive. And with four minutes left in the game, the Scots were able to force a field goal out of Cavalry, making the score 20-13.

The Scots were able to get to midfield before they ended up throwing the game-ending interception.

After a 9-1 regular season for the St. Andrew’s Scots, they ultimately fell short in the first round of the Class 2M-Region 3 playoffs.
