BOCA RATON – The St. Andrew’s Scots currently hold a 2-1 record on the season after suffering a lone loss to King Academy in Week 1.
Palm Beach County’s current No. 10-ranked team has outscored its opponents by a score of 99-14 in the last two games.
Scots senior quarterback Jacob Cashion has played a huge part in that.
“All I gotta say is amen for our linemen,” Cashion said after his four-touchdown performance in his team’s 42-7 victory over West Boca Raton last week.
The senior has 15 touchdowns total on season thus far – seven passing and eight rushing. He brings a great balance to the Scots offense with senior running back and Army commit Bill Young, who is averaging a little over five yards per carry.
“We always practice staying discipline,” Young said.
This mentality seems to be a theme for the Scots as they progress through the season, stringing together back-to-back impressive wins that seem to be flying under the radar.
Junior athlete Jackson Parke has been stellar on offense and defense. In his performance against West Boca, he recorded a receiving touchdown and one interception to seal the game.
“Coach has us do sprints everyday,” Parke stated as he attributes his recent success to the conditioning program that aids him in being an impact player on both sides of the ball.
The St. Andrew’s defense has a dynamic duo at the linebacker position in senior Nick Bailey and junior Connor Hofbauer.
“Me and Connor lead this defense,” Bailey stated. “We come out here to dominate.”
Hofbauer added his commentary on their approach.
“We’re always well prepared and execute our game plan,” Hofbauer said.
Scots sophomore wide receiver Teddy Hoffman will be a player to watch. The team’s leading receiver is averaging almost 12 yards per catch and has three touchdowns on the season already.
Hoffman projects to emerge as a household name pretty soon, along with sophomore lineman James DiDonna.
“I’m proud of my guys and all the hard work they have put in,” St. Andrew’s head coach Jimmy Robertson said.
“They are just buying in. We have a great group of kids,” Robertson continued. “They work hard, don’t have egos, and play hard for each other. It shows on offense, defense, and special teams that we’re playing our best football right now. We’re healthy and taking it one week at a time.”
St. Andrews, which cracked the New Era Prep Top 10 this week, have some notable games on its schedule to make some more noise in Palm Beach County. Two of those include North Broward Prep and Boynton Beach in back-to-back weeks in October.
The Scots will have a bye in Week 4 and then will travel to Fort Lauderdale and take on University School (1-2) in Week 5.
The St. Andrew’s-University School game will take place on Thursday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m.
