CORAL GABLES – The Miami Hurricanes shared the rock tonight (Dec. 6) in their 97-49 home win over the Long Island University Sharks.

Five players scored in double figures, with forward Norchad Omier leading the way with 17 points. Adding 15 and 14 points respectively were guards Matthew Cleveland and Wooga Poplar.

Two UM players had 13 points each – guards Nigel Pack and Kyshawn George.

The Canes (7–1; No. 15-ranked team in the nation) broke through by staring the game on a 21-0 run and never allowed the lead margin to be less than 20 points over the Sharks (1-7), save for a three-and-a-half minute stretch that saw the road team getting within as much as 17 points. The flirtation with this being a game lasted until the 9:53 mark of the first half, when guard Bensley Joseph (eight points) made a three-pointer to make the score 31-10 in favor of the home team.

The first half would end with the Canes being up 53-18 over the Sharks.

As the second half rolled on, it got out of hand even further with multiple Canes getting in the scoring action. Suffice to say, the home team saw their lead swell to as many as 49 points, when Pack hit a three-pointer with 8:33 left for a 82-33 lead in favor of the Canes.

The final score would end up being a 48-point margin of victory for the Canes.
