WELLINGTON – Anarjahe Douriet is focused on his future.

With a keen eye on becoming an engineer, the Palm Beach Central outgoing senior quarterback will be spending the next several years at UCF. He subtly revealed his college decision via his Instagram stories earlier this week.

Douriet went with UCF, even though it came without an offer from the Knights. This says a lot, considering the fact that he had offers from the likes of Pittsburgh, Columbia, Howard, Hampton, Ave Maria, and St. Thomas.

“I always wanted to become an engineer,” the 6-foot-3, 206-pound quarterback said. “I saw that UCF’s program was on the rise, so I had to take advantage.”

Is Douriet done playing football? Not so fast.

“The engineering program is great, but I’m also looking to walk on the football team.”

In 12 games this past season, Douriet led Palm Beach Central to a 9-3 record, which included the District 10-8A title and a Class 8A playoff win. He ended up with 2,358 all-purpose yards and 35 total touchdowns.

“It ended in a heartbreaking loss to Deerfield [Beach] my junior year,” Douriet said. “All I wanted was a shot, but I didn’t get it that year. So my next year I promised myself and my teammates I would get a shot at Deerfield Beach, and I got that. It didn’t end in the way I wanted it to (44-6 loss; 8A-Region 3 semifinal), but the overall season was something I won’t forget for the rest of my life. We had a lot of kids that transferred, and we still kept the standard.”

Douriet was the only quarterback in Palm Beach County to have two six-touchdown passing games. They came in Week 2 against Dwyer (47-18 win) and in the 8A-Region 3 quarterfinal against Centennial (49-42 win).

In the playoff win over Centennial, Douriet (No. 4-ranked QB; No. 57 overall player; 2020 class) helped make it possible for our MVP of the Year and Florida State enrollee Bryan Robinson (No. 1-ranked WR; No. 1 overall player; 2020 class) to have his best-ever game with five touchdown catches.

“At a certain point in the Centennial game, I felt like I hit another level,” the Palm Beach County All-Star said. “You know what I mean?”

Now that high school football is in the rearview mirror, Douriet is looking forward to graduation. Due to the coronavirus pandemic we’re in right now, Palm Beach Central will have a virtual graduation ceremony on June 2.

“The pandemic is something new for all of us,” Douriet said. “Although I won’t have the typical graduation ceremony or prom, it’s much bigger than that. We’re talking about thousands of lives being taken away. So I’m thankful for everything, and I’m praying everyone stays safe.”
