BOCA RATON, FL – Looking to capitalize on the back-to-back home stand to start the season, the Owls welcomed the Ohio University Bobcats to Paradise tonight.

The opening two minutes to the game were nothing short of chaotic. With a fight breaking out on opening kickoff leading to multiple penalties gave us a confusing opening to the game. To add on to the chaos, on the first play of the Owls offensive drive we saw a scary collision involving two Ohio defenders and FAU’s Je’Quan Burton. This collision caused the game to come to an abrupt hold, after a good amount of time, Burton was carted off the field giving everyone a sigh of relief. FAU fans however, didn’t take the injury timeout lightly as fans started to throw objects at the Ohio bench.

After a quarter and a half of play FAU got on the board first with a field goal from Logan Lupo. Less than a minute later Jarron Morris gave FAU an advantage with a pick-six to the house giving FAU a 10-0 lead. Ohio got to squeeze in a last minute touchdown to squeeze the gap 10-7.

Ohio took the lead more than halfway through the 3rd quarter squeezing in a goal line rushing touchdown, giving the Bobcats a 14-10 lead heading into the 4th quarter. It was a constant battle throughout the entire quarter but Ohio took advantage off of Casey Thompson’s 2nd interception of the game. FAU’s defense fought hard the entire possession but ultimately surrendered a field goal to give Ohio a 17-10 lead. FAU had one final chance to score but the offense could not convert going with a disappointing three and out which almost landed the Owls in the redzone. Ending the game 17-10.

The Owls travel to Death Valley next weekend to face the Clemson Tigers in a tough road contest. Their next home game will be their inaugural American Athletic Conference game.
