The King’s Academy Lions defeated the Benjamin Buccaneers 76-70 to claim the FHSAA Class 3A District 8 Championship! This is the first time Lions basketball has raised a district championship trophy since 1990!

The Lions were led in scoring by Ransom Soles (’24) with 31 points (9 3 PTS made)

The Buccaneers were led in scoring by Sanjae Moncrieffe (’23) with 18 points.

This rivalry match definitely did not disappoint. King’s had control of the game from the beginning, and they kept applying pressure on Benjamin.

However, the Bucs did not fold, and they kept clawing back into the game.

Ultimately, this game was decided by home court advantage. The Lion’s faithful were loud and rowdy in support of their team making school history.

So, how did we get to this point? Here is the path both teams took in order to reach the District Championship.
