Inter Miami wasted no time getting their first goal of the night as Josef Martinez got a great look from teammate Serhiy Kryvtsov and picked up a goal only three minutes into the game. Not too much longer in the 20th minute Lionel Messi found the back of the net to give Miami a 2-0 cushion. With that goal Messi now extends his goal streak to six games in a row, an amazing streak that he will most likely look to complete on Saturday in the championship round. Also, with that goal Messi now secures the top spot in the scoring charts as the tournaments lead goal scorer with nine goals. Jordi Alba, also found the back of the net right before the halftime whistle to give the herons a 3-0 lead. This is Alba’s first goal with his new club.

For most of the second half things were quiet until the 73rd minute when Philadelphia Midfielder Alejandro Bedoya got one back for the Union making it a 3-1 scorecard. That is until Miami got that goal back in the 84th minute thanks to a doorstep tap-in from David Ruiz to make the game 4-1.

With that the Herons advance to the Leagues Cup Final, this will be their first finals appearance in any tournament the club has participated in during their very short existence, with how the team has been performing recently they could very well be the favorites to win the 2023 Leagues Cup Championship. They will be back in action on August 19th against the winner of tonight’s Nashville SC – Monterrey matchup.
