The first Miami Dolphins preseason depth chart has been posted! The depth chart is down below:

It will be interesting to see which players climb the depth chart in the coming weeks and who the team could release or sign. Again, this is only the first depth chart of the preseason, as we get through practices and games, we will be able to see who has a real chance to make the 53-man roster.

Some names that stick out to me are receiver Andrew Armstrong and Monaray Baldwin being below Tarik Black on the depth chart. Armstrong and Baldwin have had good reps during practices next; they will need to have that translated to a live game.

Jaylen Wright being ahead of Alexander Mattinson. The second year will have more reps than his rookie year but during short yardage situations, Mattinson will most likely take over the reins. I expect Mattinson to be second string and Wright to be third.

Darren Waller is first string when we have yet to see him practice as he is still on the physically unable to perform list. He will most likely stay there once the season starts. Tanner Connor has been on a roll during camp and could possibly move up the depth chart.

Benito Jones is ahead of Kenneth Grant and Jordan Phillips in the defensive tackle room. I expect Grant to run with the first team defense in the coming weeks. Zeek Biggers will have a lot of opportunities to move up on the depth chart as he is a fourth string defensive tackle.

Moving to Corners, one that sticks out is Cam Smith is a third string corner. Smith needs to stay healthy and have good reps if he wants to make the team and move up on the depth chart. Kendall Sheffield is ahead of vet Jack Jones. Sheffield has had an excellent camp along with Storm Duck who is running the first team.

Ashtyn Davis is listed as a starter; we have not heard his status since suffering a lower leg injury, so I expect Patrick McMorris or Elijah Campbell to be across from Fitzpatrick against the Bears even though I would not expect to see Fitzpatrick to get a lot of reps on Sunday.

Moving to special teams, Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle are behind Malik Washington in punt returners, could we possibly see Hill and Waddle return punts in the preseason? It would be very interesting to see them get some action.

What are your thoughts on the first depth chart and whose name surprised you the most?
