Boca Raton, FL.- The hype for the upcoming Florida Atlantic football season continues to build, as the Owls star QB, Caden Veltkamp was just named to the 2025 Maxwell Award Watchlist moments ago.
The Maxwell Award is one of College Football’s most prestigious awards, presented to the Most Outstanding Player in the United States. The Maxwell Award has been presented to the College Player of the Year since 1937 and is named in honor of Robert “Tiny” Maxwell who was a former standout at Swarthmore College and a renowned sportswriter and football official.

Before his arrival to Paradise, Veltkamp handled the reins of the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. In 13 games played for the Tops, Caden recorded 3,108 yards and 25 scores, alongside another 7 rushing touchdowns. This impressive stat line would go on to earn Caden Veltkamp Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2024.

Veltkamp becomes the third Owl in program history to be placed on the Maxwell Award watch list, joining QB Chris Robinson (2020) and RB Larry McCammon (2023). Veltkamp is one of three representatives of the American Conference, joining UTSA QB Owen McCowen and Navy QB Blake Horvath.
