Todd Golden’s Gators received massive news today as star big man Alex Condon announced he will return to the University of Florida for his senior season. Condon is coming off a career-best year with the Gators, averaging 15.1 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.

Condon played an instrumental role in Florida’s national championship run last season, and looked poised for another deep tournament run before the Gators were shocked by Iowa in the second round.
Condon entered the 2025-26 season as a preseason first-team AP All-American and finished the year as a second-team All-SEC selection. He closed the season strong, scoring 20 or more points in six of his final 10 games.
This time last year, Condon went through the NBA Draft Combine process evaluate his standing on draft boards. He ultimately decided to return, believing the development of a three-point shot would elevate his stock.
However, the improvement didn’t come, as he shot just 17% from three-point range (9-of-53) despite his offseason efforts.
He is the first member of Florida’s “big three” to announce his decision for next season, as Florida fans await the decisions from both Rueben Chinyelu and Thomas Haugh.
Continuity is rare in today’s college basketball landscape, making it notable that Florida’s elite front court, which has been a strength over the past two season, could potentially remain intact for a third season.
If the Gators retain all three frontcourt pieces, along with Boogie Fland returning and Denzel Aberdeen coming back after a year at Kentucky, Florida would project as a national title favorite as they look to win their second championship in three years.
