Flying high: ATH Jamarr Fleuridor cannot be stopped at Jupiter Christian

JUPITER – Few players in Palm Beach County impact a game like Jamarr Fleuridor.

The Jupiter Christian senior athlete can make plays all over the field, just like he did in his team’s season opener this past Saturday night (Aug. 28) against Berean Christian.

Fleuridor passed for 71 yards and a touchdown, while adding 81 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground. He also had 41 receiving yards on offense and made five tackles on defense in Jupiter Christian’s 60-0 win over Berean Christian at Wellington High School.

“I would say ultimately I had a great game and really proud of not only how I did, but the team as a whole,” the 6-foot-1, 178-pound athlete said. “We really came together that game with only a few mistakes, which really helped us secure this Week 1 win.”

Fleuridor’s best individual moment likely happened in the third quarter, when he got out of a jam and got past a host of Berean Christian defenders en route to a spirited 58-yard rushing touchdown.

“I would say that was my best play,” Fleuridor said. “I got pushed out of the pocket and broke away for a big touchdown run.”

There was another moment that stood out for Fleuridor this past Saturday. He broke it down.

“I also had a play where I escaped the pocket and threw a pass on the run to one of my receivers that was actually really good,” Fleuridor said. “But it ended up not counting because of one of the little mistakes I mentioned earlier.”

Fleuridor has been a model leader for his team, so much so that ESPN West Palm had him ranked in their Top 63 earlier this month. He was one of two players honored from Jupiter Christian, as the other one was fellow senior and defensive back/wide receiver Brian LaFrance.

With that said, Fleuridor credits his head coach Baz Alfred for much of the success he has had on the high school football level.

“Coach Baz is an amazing coach and is always pushing me to be the best on and off the field,” Fleuridor said. “He helps me break down the game and has confidence in my athletic ability and my football IQ. He also pushes me to be a leader to my teammates. Coach Baz and I often contact each other via text or call to talk about an upcoming opponent or to even just check up on me. He’s a wonderful coach that just pushes me to be the best student-athlete that I can be.”

NOTE: The next game for Jupiter Christian will be in Week 3, when it travels west to Belle Glade for a matchup with Glades Day (1-0) on Friday, Sept. 10 at 7 p.m.
