Miami, FL: On April 5, 2025, the FIU Panthers concluded their spring football season with the annual Navy-White Spring Game at Pitbull Stadium. The Navy team secured a 7-2 victory over the White team in a matchup dominated by defensive performances.
The game was marked by strong defensive plays from both squads, totaling five interceptions. Navy’s defensive back Victor Evans III stood out with two interceptions, showcasing his readiness for the upcoming season. Notably, linebacker Toddrick Brewton of the White team forced a safety early in the game by tackling Navy’s quarterback, Clayton Dees, in the end zone, accounting for the White team’s only points.
On the offensive side, Navy’s quarterback Zack Waters scored the sole touchdown in the third quarter, following a series of significant plays, including several key receptions by newcomer Alex Perry. Perry, a transfer from Hawaii, showed great chemistry with quarterback Dees, contributing to the team’s scoring drive.
Head coach Willie Simmons expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, saying, “Number one goal was come out of the beat, stay healthy, which we did, and let the guys you know, showcase what they’re about. And so it’s glad to see them get out there and have fun. That’s been the thing for us all.”
The Panthers will kick off their 2025 season by hosting Bethune-Cookman on Friday, Aug. 29.
