WEST PALM BEACH – After being upset in its last game to Lake Worth, Forest Hill looked to get back on track with a win against district rival Dwyer.

Deante Daniels, who said his team played “kind of sluggish” in their loss, wanted to make sure it didn’t happen again. He made two straight three pointers and pushed his team out to an early 11-2 lead.

Dwyer fought back though, outscoring Forest Hill 15-13 the rest of the way to make it 24-17 at the end of the first quarter.

The Falcons started the second quarter hot, going on a 16-4 run, to pull ahead by 19.

Dwyer continued to battle back though, with the help of Bailey Stephanos, who scored 17 first half points. The Panthers ended the quarter on a 20-12 run, making it 52-41 at the half.

Both teams traded baskets back and forth to start the second half, with Forest Hill maintaining a 12-point lead, 61-49, with under four minutes remaining.

The teams continued to battle for the remainder of the quarter, with Forest Hill taking a 69-55 lead into the final quarter.

Dwyer pulled within 11, 72-61, early in the fourth. But that was the closest it would ever get in this one.

Forest Hill put its foot on the gas and didn’t look back after scoring 15 straight points to pull away from Dwyer.

After a couple highlight reel dunks, and one near miss, Forest Hill got back in the win column with a 90-71 victory.

Forest Hill (23-2, 6-0 district) looks to start another winning streak in its next matchup at Santaluces on Tuesday, Feb. 5. The tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EST.
