WELLINGTON – Jon Bostic has a vision that is set to break ground and come to fruition at some point.

The Washington Commander inside linebacker, Florida alumnus, and Palm Beach Central alum, plans to erect a facility that will be named the Wellington Sports Academy.

This building will be an athlete sports training complex and community fitness gym. It is projected to be an estimated $38 million-dollar facility that will go down as the first of its kind in America, according to Bostic.

Sitting on 17.2 acres of land, the high level performance gymnasium will be called Bostic Sports Performance. In this facility, the following will take place:

  • NFL and NBA combine prep
  • Offseason training location for all professional athletes
  • Host for different types of indoor and outdoor AAU tournaments

Bostic spoke on how his vision came about.

“My father was able to give me the same blue print his former college coach and now one of my mentors Larry Little, gave him,” Bostic said. “Now it’s my chance to give it to the next generation.”

Jim Arnold, a partner with Sports Facilities Companies, has a firm that manages many sports training venues. His company, which is based in Clearwater, already operates several venues in Florida and dozens around the nation. Arnold’s firm is slated to be the management company overseeing the facility for Bostic’s group.

“We have a number of venues of the size and scale on this. We are very bullish on this project,” Arnold said. “This would be first of its kind in Palm Beach County. It would be the top dog as far as facility offerings and facility quality up and down the East Coast (from an article months ago). This is the company managing it.”

Bostic touched on the importance of having resources available to the youth for athletics.

“I believe If we give these kids the resources, coaches and the facilities it will help a lot more of these young athletes in the South Florida area get to a chance to go live a dream and play at the next level,” Bostic said. ”It should be so many more that make it out, but don’t because of lack of resources or knowledge.”
