Palm Beach Gardens, FL – We’ve got action! This week marks the official start of the FHSAA regular season. Teams fought hard in preseason and used it as a measuring stick to see where they stack up against the competition in the county.
This week, the Game Of The Week Crew is headed to Palm Beach Gardens, where the Gators will host the Atlantic Eagles. This is an interesting matchup because of the high expectations for both of the two squads
Palm Beach Gardens has been dubbed an underrated team, as they do have solid production around the board, Jordan Johnson and ‘Nomo’ Davis being two of their most productive. The Gators fell to Spanish River 35-20 in their kickoff Classic, but have an opportunity to rebound against Atlantic. Interestingly, this is the start of a six-game home stand for PBG, as they’re at home every week through October 3rd, then finish the season with 4 away games.
On the other hand, Atlantic has been the talk of the town this week. They defeated Palm Beach Central in an overtime thriller in the Kickoff Classic game. As Sophomore QB Pedro Martinez had his coming out party, throwing and running all over PBC. Mark Hanniford and Jamir Johnson also made some huge plays for the Eagles through the course of that one.
This is the start of what is a huge season for Atlantic, they play a loaded schedule and look to continue to battle-test themselves for a run in the state playoffs. Palm Beach Gardens is also looking to prove itself and use its firepower to get back to the playoffs.
The predictions for this one are all over the place; some say it will be a close one, and some have Atlantic by a lot. Who will be the winner of this season’s first Game Of The Week?
This game will be reported live on all socials!
