With the 25th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the New York Giants selected quarterback Jaxson Dart from Ole Miss, marking a strategic move to secure their future at the position. Despite signing veteran quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston in the offseason, the Giants demonstrated a commitment to long-term development by trading up from their original second-round position to acquire Dart.

The Trade fell as follows:

Giants receive: 2025 No. 25

Texans receive: No. 34, No. 99 and a 2026 3rd-round pick.

Dart, a 6-foot-3, 215-pound signal-caller, showcased his prowess during his collegiate career, culminating in a standout final season where he passed for 4,279 yards and 29 touchdowns, while adding 495 rushing yards and three scores on the ground.  His performance highlighted his dual-threat capabilities and adaptability, traits that align with head coach Brian Daboll’s offensive philosophy.

The Giants’ interest in Dart was evident leading up to the draft, with reports indicating that general manager Joe Schoen and coach Daboll favored him over other quarterback prospects, including Shedeur Sanders.  Speculation intensified when Schoen’s son shared a highlight reel of Dart on social media, further fueling rumors of the team’s intentions.

Dart expressed enthusiasm about joining the Giants, emphasizing his readiness to embrace the challenges of the NFL and his aspiration to lead the team to success.  With his selection, the Giants aim to develop Dart into a cornerstone of their franchise, blending his athleticism and leadership qualities to revitalize their offense in the coming seasons.
