WEST PALM BEACH – Coming into today’s matchup, Palm Beach Lakes was ranked at No. 4 in the state and Boca Raton at No. 24.

Both squads played sound defensively in the first quarter. The score was only 10-7 with Boca Raton in the lead.

The second quarter would hold more action as both teams would begin to heat up and find their shots. Hannah Pratt for Boca scored just about every time she touched the ball.

The Lady Bobcats went into halftime with a commanding 35-17 lead over the Lady Rams. Palm Beach Lakes seem to be a little shell-shocked by the flurry of shots that Boca Raton was able to knock down in the first half.

The Lady Rams seemed to settle down in the second half as they held the Lady Bobcats scoreless for half of the third quarter. Each team played harassing defense throughout the third frame.

Kelsi Mingo would make two key plays for the Lady Bobcats, as she knocked down a three-pointer and blocked a shot to get the crowd hyped up. The momentum shifted to the road team as a result of the two-play sequence.

The scrappy Lakes squad would turn up their defensive pressure in the fourth quarter and force Boca into some bad shots. It caused the Boca Raton head coach to call what seemed like back-to-back timeouts and settle his team down after Palm Beach Lakes chop its lead down to 47-36 with four minutes left in the game.

Hannah Pratt and the Lady Bobcats were determined to get a win and would not let up on defense, as they overcame the Lady Rams tough defense in the fourth quarter to pull off a 56-38 upset victory.
