TREASURE COAST – The FHSAA’s Girls Basketball Selection Show from yesterday (Feb. 5) was a reveal that showed a couple of surprises for our area’s teams.
We did not produce any district champions from the Treasure Coast area. But we did end up with five at-large selections for the upcoming FHSAA state playoffs.
They are as follows:
•Class 5A: Jensen Beach (16-6), Lincoln Park Academy (15-7)
•Class 6A: Martin County (15-6)
•Class 7A: Centennial (15-7), Vero Beach (12-12)
Now with that said, let us get right to the FHSAA regional quarterfinal matchups for our area teams.
We have two rematches in the Treasure Coast for the FHSAA regional quarterfinal round. They took place in the regular season.
CLASS 5A-REGION 4: No. 3 seed Jensen Beach (16-6) vs. Lincoln Park Academy (15-7)
•Rematch from Tuesday, Jan. 17; 48-46 win for Lincoln Park Academy
CLASS 7A-REGION 2: No. 4 seed Centennial (15-7) vs. No. 5 seed Vero Beach (12-12)
Rematch from Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2022; 64-56 win for Vero Beach
•Rematch from Tuesday, Jan. 3; 40-37 overtime win for Centennial
NOTE: Both teams are tied at 1-1 in their head-to-head matchups for the season
Here is our other FHSAA regional quarterfinal matchup:
CLASS 6A-REGION 2 QUARTERFINAL: No. 8 seed Martin County (15-6) at No. 1 seed Edgewater (21-4) seed Dwyer (13-7) at No. 2 seed
NOTE: All games are set to take place on Thursday (Feb. 9).
Tip-off times are likely to be set at 7 p.m. for most teams, but some may get moved up to 6 p.m.
We will likely find out within the next 48 hours for the official tip-off times with all of our teams. Stay tuned for a schedule update.
