BOYNTON BEACH – Brooke Bogatz has been a leader for the Park Vista Lady Cobras all year, and Monday night she made it special by scoring her 1,000th career point.
Midway through the second quarter, Bogatz would step back and knock down a long three to hit her 1,000th career point.
“It’s good, it feels good,” Bogatz said.
It wasn’t without struggle that Bogatz reached her goal as she had to put up with a pesky Pahokee defense that wasn’t letting up in the first two frames.
“It was rough getting those 10 points” Bogatz said.
The junior would expand as she spoke about her family, coaches, friends, and teammates.
“They’ve done everything for me,” Bogatz said. “It means a lot that he (Bogatz’s father) gave me the 1,000-point ball. It feels great, I have great teammates, and they’re good to work with. I have a good coach, and he’s pushing me to get better every day”.
Bogatz would expand on her personal trainer.
“Coach Garrick Black, he’s taught me mostly everything I know, my moves, how to penetrate, and take down defenders,” she said.
It’s obvious that Bogatz has a huge support system and superb coaching. Bogatz is averaging over 20 points per game for the Lady Cobras, so it was no surprise to see her eclipse the mark in the first half.
“She’s a great girl and a great person,” Lady Cobras head coach Randy Moore said. “She comes out and works hard every night. It’s a great accomplishment, 1,000 points in the middle of her junior year. I’m really proud of her and appreciate her effort on the floor.”
Moore would expand of the togetherness the Lady Cobras showed against Pahokee.
“The rest of the girls did a great job looking for Brooke so she could get those points,” Moore said. “Compliments to the rest of the team for what they did for her.”
The Lady Cobras (8-4) dominated all game as they ran up and down the court, almost scoring at will.
Park Vista lead Pahokee 26-10 at the half, with Bogatz was leading all scorers with 12 points at that point in the game.
Park Vista would go on to continue its dominance as it was a score of 45-17 at the end of the third frame.
The Lady Cobras would close out the game in the fourth and complete their rout of Pahokee by a score of 57-20.
Bogatz led all scorers with 23 points.
