Houston, TX.- Breaking News: Miami has placed yet another marquee matchup on their schedule as the Hurricanes prepare to face the Texas Longhorns in a neutral site bout, team socials confirm.

This highly anticipated showdown between the Hurricanes and Longhorns will be hosted at the Toyota Center in Houston, TX. on December 12. Tipoff time has not been confirmed yet.

The ‘Canes and the Longhorns have met one time in program history, with Miami emerging victorious in an 88-81 thriller during the 2023 NCAA Tournament Elite 8, which would send Miami to the Final 4.

Last season, both Miami and Texas would make the NCAA Tournament, with the Hurricanes defeating Missouri before falling to the Purdue Boilermakers in the Round of 32.

As for Texas, the Longhorns went on a semi-Cinderella run, defeating NC State in the First 4 followed by upsets against Brigham Young (BYU) and Gonzaga before also falling to the Boilermakers in the Sweet 16.

This matchup also marks the return to H-Town for Miami’s sophomore star Shelton Henderson. The 6 foot 6 forward from Bellaire was a former 4 star, top 25 recruit in the 2025 class.

The addition of Texas to Miami’s schedule provides yet another elite Quad 1 opponent to the Hurricanes’ 2026 slate. Miami will open the season against their in-state foe Florida Gators in the Orion180 Tip-Off Classic on Nov. 2 in Tampa, before traveling to Las Vegas to face Texas Christian in the Players Era Tournament on Nov. 24. Following that matchup Miami will face either Michigan or Creighton on Nov. 26.

On December 2, Miami will host Alabama in the SEC v ACC Challenge, before the Longhorns’ matchup.

When league play begins, Miami will face the other  7 former NCAA Tournament teams in Duke, UNC, Louisville, Clemson, NC State, Virginia and SMU.
