Heels’ Comeback Attempt Falls Short, Rebels Advance

Milwaukee, WI – North Carolina faced Ole Miss in the first round this afternoon. After a dominant first four victory over San Diego State, the Tarheels were looking to carry their momentum into this one.

Ole Miss came out the gate hot, building an 11-2 lead before the first media timeout. This set the tone for the first half and was the theme of UNC’s season. The halftime score was 44-26 Rebels.

In the second half, Carolina showed signs of a comeback and actually cut the lead to 2 with 1:09 remaining. On the next possession, Sean Pedulla hit a three to put Ole Miss up 5. Ole Miss was able to get a big stop and seal the deal.

Ole Miss was led by Sean Pedulla with 20 points 6 rebounds, and 5 assists. Dre Davis also had 15 and 8. Ole Miss will play Iowa State in the round of 32, the Cyclones are coming off of a blowout affair over Lipscomb this afternoon.

A Carolina season of ups and downs ends at 23-14, as Senior RJ Davis ends a great career scoring 15 in his last game, going 6-17 from the field.
