BOCA RATON – You don’t have a nickname like Motor just to not uphold it.
FAU sophomore running back Devin Singletary is putting the pedal to the medal and breaking records along the way.
Rushing for 1,053 yards thus far in only seven games played, Singletary leads the nation in rushing touchdowns with 18. That’s four ahead of fellow local and Louisville junior quarterback Lamar Jackson, who won the Heisman Trophy last year.
Even though FAU has just recently started a Heisman campaign push, it will be no second-guessing of why Singletary shouldn’t be in the running for the nation’s most prestigious college football honor.
As modest and timid as Singletary is, it without a doubt he can’t go without some recognition. Singletary had his sixth consecutive game with 100+ rushing yards, tallying 244 on 36 carries and four touchdowns in last week’s win over Western Kentucky.
The sophomore’s four scores tied the FAU program record for rushing touchdowns by a single runner in a game.
” I don’t really pay attention to it,” Singletary said. “I just keep balling.”
Humbly giving recognition to his offensive line, Singletary and the Owls have been dominating offensively in more ways than one. Standing to right now in Conference USA, FAU head coach Lane Kiffin has led the upstart program to a 5-3 overall record (4-0 in C-USA play).
FAU will be hosting Marshall (6-2, 3-1 in Conference USA) tonight (Nov. 3), with kickoff being set for 6 p.m.
