Miami, FL – It’s been a historic year for Luis Arraez so far this 2023 season and to make things better, he has now gained his second career All-Star Selection. Arraez has been on a tear so far in his first season for the Marlins as he was averaging a .400 batting average for most of the first half of this season and was on course to be the first player in over eighty years to have such a high batting average all season. However that batting average has dropped to a just as impressive and still MLB leading .390 average. Arraez posted his reaction to being named an All-Star on Twitter and it is nothing short of wholesome.

Before Miami, Arraez was signed to the Minnesota Twins in 2013 as an international free agent from Venezuela, there he developed in the Twins minor league system until his call up to the majors in 2019. 2022 was his breakout year, he was elected to the All-Star Game representing the American League but was chosen as a reserve and didn’t see action. Arraez also won the American League Silver Slugger Award for the Utility Category during his final season with the Minnesota Twins. He’s currently looking to be the obvious contender to retain that title with the pace he’s setting right now. He also won the American League Batting Title that same year just beating out Aaron Judge from the New York Yankees. During this past offseason he was traded to Miami where he’s made such a big and immediate impact with this team, earlier in April he became the first player in Miami Marlins history to hit for a cycle, before that the Marlins were only team in the MLB to not have a player hit for the cycle. Safe to say we can expect more history to come in the coming seasons with Luis Arraez stepping up to the plate.
