BOYNTON BEACH, FL – Somerset Academy has been on a roll this season boasting a nice 6-2 record for the squad as we enter the later half of the season, a bigger improvement from last year’s 5-5 finish. All eyes this season were on Senior Running Back Tristan Johnson, who made history this past Friday night against Jupiter Christian by crossing the 1,000 rushing yard mark in only eight games.

“I’m feeling great, it’s a blessing”. Said Johnson when asked about crossing the mark after the game on Friday. Johnson put up 239 yards and 2 touchdowns against Jupiter Christian on Friday night, when asked about his performance that night and the preparation coming into the game he said that he needed to “stay patient and wait for the block to come and then get in there”.

With such a dominant performance, we’re going to be looking at his season overall and how he’s fared against Somerset’s other opponents this season;

  • 8/25 Vs. ARHS – 17 Carries for 150 yards and 2 TD’s
  • 9/1 Vs. Glades Day – 11 Carries for 140 yards and 3 TD’s (Season High TD)
  • 9/8 Vs. King’s Academy – 17 Carries for 103 yards
  • 9/15 Vs. CCHS – 7 Carries for 19 yards
  • 9/29 Vs. BBHS – 25 Carries for 149 yards and 2 TD’s
  • 10/5 Vs. SA – 15 Carries for 225 yards and 1 TD

  • 10/20 Vs. Jupiter Christian – 19 Carries for 239 yards (Season High) and 2 TD’s

Johnson is the first Running Back in Somerset Academy history to cross 1000 yards and with two games left on the calendar for Somerset, Johnson will be looking to add more yards to his Senior year total. Tristan is currently in the Top 20 for rushing yards in the state of Florida and a Top 15 member in all of the FHSAA according to MaxPreps.
