House Defended – Newman Beats Pahokee in Home Opener

WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. – In a commanding performance on the field tonight, the Cardinal Newman Crusaders dominated Pahokee, securing a decisive 43-8 victory in their first game at home.

The game began with Newman setting the tone early, scoring on their first possession. Running back Jaylin Brown pushed through Pahokee’s defense with a powerful goal-line carry, followed by a successful extra point, putting Newman ahead 7-0 with 9:21 left in the first quarter.

Newman’s defense quickly made their presence felt, capitalizing on a costly mistake by the Pahokee offense. A fumbled option play was recovered by the Newman defense, setting up another scoring opportunity for Newman. They didn’t waste the chance, adding another touchdown and a successful extra point to extend their lead to 14-0 with 8:34 remaining in the first quarter.

Quarterback Jyron Hughley showcased his skills, taking matters into his own hands to push Newman’s lead further. With a successful drive, he put the Crusaders up 21-0 at the 5:08 mark in the first quarter. Pahokee struggled to contain the Crusaders’ relentless offense, which continued to dominate through the first half.

Janarro Sumpter made his mark on the game early in the second quarter, charging through the middle of the defense to score another touchdown. Newman successfully converted the extra point, increasing their lead to 28-0 with 11:25 left in the second quarter.

Pahokee managed to get on the board with a big run and a successful two-point conversion, cutting into Newman’s lead, making it 28-8. However, Newman quickly responded. As Jaylin Brown found the endzone for the second time in the game, bringing Newman’s score to 35-8 with just 1:08 left in the second quarter.

As halftime arrived, Newman held a comfortable 35-8 lead. The second half saw more of the same dominance from Newman, with Janarro Sumpter adding his second rushing touchdown of the night. With both Newman running backs securing two touchdowns each, the team’s ground game was simply unstoppable. A successful two-point conversion by Jyron Hughley pushed the score to 43-8 late in the third quarter.

With this strong performance, the Crusaders maintained their lead, sealing a 43-8 victory over Pahokee. Newman’s offense was firing on all cylinders, and their defense kept Pahokee at bay, allowing only one scoring drive throughout the game. This win not only showcased Newman’s strengths on both sides of the ball but also sets a high standard for the rest of their season as they stay undefeated.
